Reasons to Volunteer

Some of the Best Reasons to Volunteer
Some of the best reasons to give are the ones you may not have considered — the ones that make it worth your while to go that extra step. People who have spent time volunteering for a cause report that they get back in satisfaction and joy more than they ever expend in inconvenience or effort — what you get back is immeasurable. You'll also receive these benefits:
  • Volunteering makes you feel needed.
  • Volunteering can lead to learning new skills.
  • Volunteering can help you deal with some of your personal problems.
  • Volunteering helps you meet new people and breaks down barriers of misunderstanding, mistrust and fear.
  • Volunteering can create new contacts which may help your business or career.

It's What in the World You Can Do!
You might be thinking, "The little bit that I can do will never help much!" or "What in the world can I do?" If you've ever spent ten minutes reading a book to a child with autism, you know that even that small amount of compassion and attention can make a world of difference. No one person can solve the world's problems, but what little you do can make your little corner of the world — or one far away from yours a happier, healthier, safer place to live for those who need your help. Each of us can right a wrong, fill a plate, visit a shut-in, rescue a pet, deliver a meal, tend a public garden, mentor a child or whatever action inspires you.  Just jump in and volunteer!

What a Dog can teach you

Frenchy is walking with me again at the 3rd annual Mission Pink walk for Breast Cancer he even made  the cover of this years poster.

For Frenchy my Dog  every morning is Christmas morning. Every walk is the best walk, every meal is the best meal,  We can learn so much by observing the way our pets rejoice in life’s simplest moments. Dogs live in the moment. They don’t regret the past or worry about the future.
When we live in regret of the past or fear of the future we forfeit the potential joy of today.

Frenchy doesn't care about words. He recognizes  what’s really going on interaction.

I'm going to practice every day these things that Frenchy has taught us: waking up happy and enjoying the simple things exercise, discipline, and affection every day.

When dogs are bored, they develop issues ranging from anxiety to aggression. But when given a job and a way to contribute to the pack’s well-being, they turn around almost immediately.  As Humans we are no different. We are all called to a purpose.

I am so convicted by Frenchy. As I write this he is rolling on his back with a chew toy and loving life. If I can take a moment to count how blessed I am today I can celebrate as well. There is joy in the mundane events of life. Ask the Spirit of God to reveal that to you today.

What I have learned from Frenchy is to live in the moment. Don’t regret the past or worry about the future.
Don't hold grudges. Give Love Every day and be open to receive Love. Wake up every morning like it's Christmas morning! Be excited to exercise and happy when we are in the car going for a ride!
I am just  going to take my spiritual mentor Frenchy for a walk and try to be as happy as I can today and every day.

Yogaliscous is Cooking

As fall sets in Mcallen Texas, my yogis and yoginis  do our weekly ritual yoga in the park followed by Farmers Market at Alambra.
Farmers' Market in McAllen inside the Alhambra Restaurant, Bar, and Hookah Lounge, a market that you may have read about in The Monitor newspaper. I have been invited to come and cook on saturday mornings with Chef James Canter. You might have read about Canter's farm to table dinners.

Anyone that knows me knows that I love to cook and I especially love to cook healthy meals. I am active in Yoga Zumba Dance and MMA boot camp training, but do you know how hard it is to eat healthy and turn away the wonderful food South Texas has to offer after a vigorous work out. I have learned to get very creative making healthy meals and some not so healthy meals. South Texas is the only place you can go to a Yoga studio grand opening  be served Roast Beef and Chicken Mole sandwiches with wine.

Cooking is what makes us human. It’s by bringing food to fire that humans have evolved way beyond what would have been possible at the slow pace of natural selection.

As it happens, the yogis of the Vedas had a similar idea. As Douglas Brooks likes to remark, the word “yoga” is first used in the Rg Veda in the compound “Yogakshema“, which is to say that Yoga is Cooking. Yoga is the process by which we take the raw ingredients of ourselves and, by bringing the fire of our passions into the fire of our practice. You already have all of the raw ingredients you need, so just light the fire to begin cooking!

The Texas Food Revolution is the Texas Valley's hottest weekly food celebration. You'll find so much at farmers market. Get meats, vegetables and farm eggs grown and raised within a hundred mile radius, plus fresh-squeezed juices, olive-oil tamales, a daring market brunch, French pastries, healthy deserts and other scrumptious treats that support the local small farm and food economy.

Join me Every Saturday at 10am-1pm at the Market at Alhambra, 519 S. 17th, McAllen.

Global prayer directed at the water in the nuclear plants in Fukushima

Call to Prayer from Masuru Emoto -

Thursday, March 31, Noon

To All People Around the World
Please send your prayers of love and gratitude to water at the nuclear plants in Fukushima, Japan!
By the massive earthquakes of Magnitude 9 and surreal massive tsunamis, more than 10,000 people are still missing…even now… It has been 16 days already since the disaster happened. What makes it worse is that water at the reactors of Fukushima Nuclear Plants started to leak, and it’s contaminating the ocean, air and water molecule of surrounding areas.
Human wisdom has not been able to do much to solve the problem, but we are only trying to cool down the anger of radioactive materials in the reactors by discharging water to them.
Is there really nothing else to do? I think there is.
During over twenty year research of hado measuring and water crystal photographic technology, I have been witnessing that water can turn positive when it receives pure vibration of human prayer no matter how far away it is. Energy formula of Albert Einstein, E=MC2 really means that Energy = number of people and the square of people’s consciousness.
Now is the time to understand the true meaning. Let us all join the prayer ceremony as fellow citizens of the planet earth.  I would like to ask all people, not just in Japan, but all around the world to please help us to find a way out the crisis of this planet!!
The prayer procedure is as follows.
Name of ceremony: “Let’s send our thoughts of love and gratitude to all water in the nuclear plants in Fukushima” Day
and Time: March 31st, 2011 (Thursday)12:00 noon in each time zone
Please say the following phrase: “The water of Fukushima Nuclear Plant, we are sorry to make you suffer.  Please forgive us.  We thank you, and we love you.”  Please say it aloud or in your mind. Repeat it three times as you put your hands together in a prayer position. Please offer your sincere prayer.
Thank you very much from my heart.

Saint or Aint???

I looked up "Saint" in the dictionary and found this: "An officially recognized person through canonization, as preeminent for holiness; one of the spirits of the departed, now in heaven." So according to Webster, a saint is a near-perfect person, now dead.
But what is a saint in the Bible? In most of Paul's letters, he makes reference to "the saints." Here are some from Philippians: "To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi" (1:1). "Greet every saint in Christ Jesus" (4:21). "All the saints greet you" (4:22).
So the Word of God says saints are on earth, living with us. You could take all of humanity and separate them into two categories, the saints and the "ain'ts." You either belong to God or you don't. If you belong to Jesus Christ, you are a saint. You are a "separated one." That's what the word means, one who is separated for God's purpose here on earth. Here are some traits of saints.
A saint belongs to two kingdoms. Though he has a physical address, here on the earth, he has a spiritual address as well: "in Christ Jesus." He has a dual citizenship. He lives as an alien on the earth because his true citizenship is in heaven. And therefore he keeps a light touch on this life because he knows it's only temporary.
So the bottom line is this: Does God own you, or are you earthbound?  Are you a saint or an "ain't"?

My Life Plan is Guaranteed

My life plan is guaranteed!
1 Thessalonians 5:24 “The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.”
What God calls you to do, He empowers you to do. With the plan comes every resource that we will need to accomplish that plan.

For many years I was unsure of my purpose and mission in life.  I tried and often succeeded in filling every waking moment with activity. Oh, it was wonderful activity filled with good things – but they were not the best things, the highest things for my life. I just did them in order to feel important.  I hoped that all this activity  would provide a purpose and plan for the restlessness in my soul.

Sitting at the bottom of a deep, dark pit named “Clinical Depression”, I discovered a truth that has redefined who I am and altered my soul perception of God. I now realize that the most powerful mission flows from a clear life plan.
How do we discover our life plan?
By spending time with the Plan Maker. By saturating daily life with His truth and continually turning our hearts to conversation with Him.  When we spend time with Him the plan naturally unfolds as we take every “next step” in obedience.
  • What are your spiritual gifts?
  • What are you passionate about?
  • What are your natural abilities?
  • What is your personality type?
  • What are the spiritual markers in your life?
  • What do others see in you?

I began to ask these questions, looking for the gifts He has given me instead of the ones I thought I should have or wanted to have. I began to accept my limitations knowing that He had woven them into the seams of my journey for my good. I began trusting Him to lead the way through this foreign land called life. Guess what? I looked around one day to find myself smack-dab in the middle of His life plan for me. It was suddenly so simple and amazingly clear! I am learning to say “no” to those things that do not fit into that life mission. Certainly, I fail and have to begin again. And sometimes I am misunderstood because I have chosen to follow God’s plan instead of someone else’s. But I would rather be misunderstood than disobedient. I had to choose a new audience and so must you! I had to make a decision about the One I wanted to please and so must you.

Today I know who I am and where I am going!  I’ve discovered that the secret of “doing it all” is not doing it all!  It is finding which part of “all” He has given us to do and then doing all of that! In other words, find out what His plan is and stick to it, knowing that it is guaranteed by God Himself.

Show Me Dont tell me

"There's a wonderful scene near the end of the movie 'My Fair Lady' in which Eliza Doolittle sings words that God must also sing. She says, 'Words! Words! Words! I'm so sick of words, If you're in love, Show me!' I am always writing about the importance and power of words. However, if words are spoken only from the head and not the heart, and are misused to impress, flatter, manipulate, or don't mean a thing to the one who speaks them, they can be worse than useless.
It's the same for a Christian  If we say we are a believer and don't act accordingly, what does it mean? It means nothing. God help me with my potty mouth and the way I use my words!!

I read this on a poster at the Christian Book shop and I wrote it down.
The living truth is what I long to see
I cannot live on what used to be
So close your Bible and show me how
The Christ you talk about is living now.
